Hyatt Heath Hopkins grew up in Porter, Texas and comes from a big fiddling family. His paternal grandfather, the late great E.J. Hopkins was a champion fiddler, as are both of his parents, Carl and Tonya Hopkins, as well as his maternal aunts Danita Gardner and Roberta Rast (one of the 2019 CFC judges!) Hyatt grew up attending fiddle contests with his family, and it wasn’t long before he picked up the guitar so he could jam along with everyone. Hyatt has established himself as one of the best Texas-style backup guitar players in the country, having won numerous accompanist guitar contests, and can always be found backing up his favorite champion fiddling family members and friends!
