Danita Rast lives in Boise, Idaho, where she teaches private violin/fiddle lessons. She received her undergraduate degree in Violin Performance from Sam Houston University in Huntsville, Texas, and her master’s degree in Violin Pedagogy from Boise State University. Danita has played in several string quartets, and has been a member of the Poise Philharmonic and Boise Baroque Orchestra.
She has judged many fiddle contests and competed in them all her life. Danita has won both the Grand Masters Invitational in Nashville, Tennessee, and the National Oldtime Fiddle Contest in Weiser, Idaho, three times.
