Alita Stoneking comes from the heart of the Ozarks, where fiddle music rings through the hills and is passed down from generation to generation. So it is with this talented young gal from Bolivar, Missouri. Now twenty-seven years old, she has traveled through Washington state, Idaho, Montana, Minnesota, and across Missouri competing in, and judging, fiddle contests for many years.
Alita takes her musical lead from her father and her grandfather, who are both highly accomplished and greatly recognized in the mid-West for their fiddlin’ ability. Alita has been playing the fiddle for over ten years, and puts her personal spin on hoedowns, reels, and just about anything she plays. Her guitar playing is as sought after in the fiddle circuit as her fiddling is.
Alita Stoneking is the 2007-2008 Missouri State Fiddle Champion, and has held the title many times in her musical career. Pull up a chair and get ready for a treat if you happen by where she’s sawin’ on the strings!
