Matt Wyatt went to a fiddle contest with his grandfather, and that was what really started it all. He grew up listening to fiddling, as on both sides of his family there were great fiddlers: his grandpa Bud would visit on most Sundays and play old tunes for the family. Through this exposure, Matt developed a love and respect for music at a very young age. Matt has won many fiddle contests, including State Championships in Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Alabama, and Mississippi.
Mr. Wyatt has a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. While in Nashville, he played on the Grand Ole Opry and at the Ryman Auditorium with Jerry and Tammy Sullivan. He worked for Deborah Allen in her house band on her show Nashville Nights, and got to play with Linda Davis, Paul Overstreet, Billy Dean, The Kinleys, Mila Mason, Chalee Tennison, Sherrie Austin, and Suzy Boguss.
Matt currently runs the Wyatt Fiddle Shop in Independence, Missouri, with his father, Allen. It is a full-service violin shop and teaching studio (their website can be found here). He also plays with the band Swing De Ville (visit their website here).
