Katie Glassman, now living in Venice, CA is one of today’s leading Texas-style and Western Swing fiddler – an award-winning performer, champion improviser, and sought-after educator. A national Texas-style contest winner and longtime touring artist with The Western Flyers and her band Snapshot, she’s known for her soulful tone, inventive variations, and deep command of swing phrasing. Katie has performed and taught across the country, studied with many of the great Texas masters, and is the founder of Fiddle School, a thriving global learning community. Acclaimed for her clear methodology and creative approach, she helps fiddlers develop stylistic authenticity, improvisational fluency, and confidence onstage and off.

We are thrilled to play with the Boulder Symphony Orchestra.  Please join us for an evening of music that explores all aspects of love, including 9 of my own songs, ranging from tunes on my first album to Under the Umbrella to some I wrote at my Ucross Composition Residency.  We will be premiering Eric Moon’s composition “100 Years Later.”  The concert will also be colored with several Nat King Cole Classics like “Unforgettable” and “Smile”.

Maestro Keynes Chen,  normally the concert master of the Boulder Symphony, will rise to the podium to conduct the 60 piece symphony.  He is a very accomplished conductor and you will enjoy watching his passion and command.

We have had the honor of working with five arrangers:  Charlie Mertens, Eric Moon, Phil Norman, Justino Perez and Ernest Ebell.  For a four piece band, this is a much larger team than we are accustomed to working with, so you can imagine what a treat this is for us Snapshots!

Tickets are $25 adults, $20 seniors, $15 college students and 18 and under FREE.

Method: My primary focus is to help my students develop a lifelong love of music and fiddling.

I enjoy contest fiddling, but do not believe that it is the end-all be-all of fiddling. I help my students become strong, grounded musicians, with a strong basis in the fundamentals.

I teach the melody of the fiddle tune before getting into variations, and I teach music theory from a practical standpoint.
